Viktor Axelsen was extremly happy when he won Yonex Copenhagen Masters last year. Soon he has the chance to repeat this result and he will do whatever he can to make that happen when the tournament is played again on the 27th and 28th of December.
- What I bear in mind from last year was the moment when I stepped up at the top of the podium. I always watched Yonex Copenhagen Masters in the television when I was a young boy, so it was really amazing to win, Viktor Axelsen says.
There is no doubt that this memory makes the twenty year old world championship bronze-medalist happy, and he is really looking forward to play the tournament again.
- It’s a super cool tournament to play because there is such a good atmosphere at Falkoner Centret. We only play at one court and the spectators are seated close to the court. They are always cheering a lot especially when you play against a foreign player, Axelsen says.
Hard competition
Viktor Axelsen is playing his semifinal against Tommy Sugiarto from Indonesia who also won bronze at the world championships in Ballerup Super Arena. He is ranked as number five on the world ranking list and it will for sure be an exciting match between the two players.
- He is a very strong player and I’m really looking forward to this match. I like that so many strong players are coming. It will be tough to win, but of course I will do everything I can, Viktor Axelsan says.
