Final Day at Yonex Denmark Open

China dominated the finals at Yonex Denmark Open heavily. They won all five titles and once again showed the rest of the badminton world that they have a number of fantastic badminton players. 


Women’s Doubles

China got a very good start at Sunday’s finals at the Yonex Denmark Open, when Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang won the final in Women’s Doubles against Misak Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan.The Chinese pair won in two games with 21-14, 21-14, and declared after the victory their passion for playing in Denmark.


Mixed Doubles

Tontowi Ahmad has played very convincingly after he has returned from an injury. However, in the final he and partner Liliyana Natsir struggled against Chinese Xu Chen/Ma Jin. The first game was a close one and at 20-20 it could have gone both ways. Nevertheless, the Xu Chen/Ma Jin played cool and won 22-20, before winning safely 21-15 in the second set, securing their second win at Yonex Denmark Open. 


Women’s Singles

World’s number one, Li Xuerui, got her Danish vengeance, when she won the Women’s Singles Yonex Denmark Open over her countryman Wang Yihan in two matches.


At the World Championships in Denmark two months ago, Li Xuerui lost the final against the big surprise Carolina Marin from Spain. But at the Denmark Open wasn’t there any problems for Li Xuerui, who won the final with 21-17, 22-20.


After the victory was the young Chinese player thrilled with her first victory at the Danish Super Series-tournament.


Men's Singles

The crowd favorite on the final day of Yonex Denmark Open was by far Chinese world champion Chen Long. He played against Korean Son Wan Ho in a high quality men's singles final. The game was very close and had soma extraordinary rallies and lasted more than an hour, though Chen Long won in two games. 


However, Chen Long came down 20-17 in the second set and had to pull out some magnificent shots at the end. Finally he won 24-22, winning his third ever Yonex Denmark Open-title and the fourth Chinese title in a row in this years Yonex Denmark Open. 


Men's Doubles 

China had already secured four out of five titles going into the final of the men's doubles. Here Zhang Nan/Fu Haifeng had the possibility of clearing the table and making all titles chinese. The multiple time world champion Fu Haifeng and his relatively new partner, mixeddouble world champion Zhang Nan played an extraordinary final against the Korean favorites Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong , winning 21-13 25-23. Especially, the end of the second game was entertainment at the very highest level, pleasing the crowd in Odense.
