The 1st seeded Li Xuerui from China won the final at Yonex Denmark Open, after she defeated her countryman Wang Yihan with 21-17, 22-20.
Two months ago lost the world’s number one Li Xuerui the final at the World Championships in Denmark after a surprisingly defeat by Spanish Carolina Marin.
But Sunday afternoon took the young Chinese her Danish vengeance, when she triumphed at Yonex Denmark Open. In the final she faced fellow Chinese women’s single player Wang Yihan, who fought well in the final, which was won by Li Xuerui in two games.
- I think I was lucky with the win, because Wang Yihan also played a great match. It is also a close match against her, because we are so familiar with each other, says Li Xuerui after the match.
Their is not long time for sopping over spilled milk for 3rd seed Wang Yihan, who will play the French Open this coming week, where Li Xuerui also is one of the participants. But maybe there will be a little time for celebrating for Li Xuerui in Paris:
- This is the first time I win Denmark Open. I am very happy, and maybe I will celebrate it in France, sounds the delighted comment from the new Denmark Open-champion in Women’s Singles.
