It will be a promising friday evening in mixed doubles at Yonex Denmark Open. Eight world class mixed doubles are ready for the quarterfinals and there will be entertainment and badminton on the highest level.
Host nation Denmark booked two places among the last eight, after Mads Pieler Kolding/Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen played very convincingly on thursday. The two Danish mixed doubles won in straight games and left high hopes for the home crowd.
Kolding/Juhl will face the Indonesian three time All England champions Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, while Fischer/Pedersen also will play against Indonesians. Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili won a thrilling match 22-20 24-22 against young Chinese Lui Yuchen/Luo Yu and will now face the second seeded Danes.
Reigning world champions Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei had to work a little harder at the end of the second game against Jordan/Susanto from Indonesia. The final score was 21-15 22-20 and the Chinese top favorites are now facing countrymen Lui Cheng/Bao Yixin in the quarterfinals.
Finally the runners up from the world championship Xu Chen/Ma Jin safely found their way to the quarterfinals. The Chinese will face Maneepong Jongjit/Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand in their quarterfinal.
