ABOUT THE PAPER

EFLM is proud to announce the recent publication of the Consensus Paper “Quantifying atherogenic lipoproteins for lipid-lowering strategies: consensus-based recommendations from EAS and EFLM”.

This document has been produced by EFLM WG-Guidelines and the EFLM Task Group-Cardiac Markers in collaboration with the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS). This document aims to provide appropriate guidance on the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing of atherogenic lipoproteins.

All EFLM National Societies were invited to take part in the final stage of the development of this document. Public consultation among EFLM National Society Members was held in the first part of 2019. All comments received have been taken into account during the document revision. The revised version has been then sent for final voting to all 40 National Societies and was positively voted by 29 Societies (1 negative vote was received and 10 Societies did not vote) and it can now be considered an official EFLM and EAS statement. We greatly appreciate the comments and suggestions received from EFLM National Societies and their appointed reviewers.

The Consensus Paper has been recently published in CCLM, the official Journal of EFLM as well as in the EAS journal “Atherosclerosis”.

We encourage professionals throughout Europe to adopt and implement this recommendation!
